A real stage man, Jamie Cullum rocked Istanbul on July 6 at santralistanbul’s amphitheater. Arriving in town only four hours before his concert, at Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, or İKSV’s, 18th Istanbul Jazz Festival organized around the theme of ‘Jazz-Hearted Istanbul,’
Performing a blend of jazz, pop and rock, Jamie brought back the happiness in his audience.
After telling his story about how lonely he felt when he used to work at a ship as a performer at the age of 19, he added sang ‘All At Sea,’ a song he wrote back then.
Praising the jazz festival Jamie said, “You are lucky to have a festival such as this in town with the headliners Paul Simon, Herbie Hancock and Marcus Miller.”
Cullum, born in 1979, is a real talent and showman. Considered to be one of the most successful jazz musicians of the UK, Cullum was shining on stage.
With his red cheeks and emotional looks Cullum saluted his crowd many times. ‘We will never forget this concert,’ he said and left the stage with loud applause from the audience.
